MSF USA promotes a new Director of People and Culture

Allison (Ally) James has been promoted from Director of DEI (Strategy) to Director of People and Culture, a new role in the organization that will focus on both domestic and international human resources.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières is an organization made up of people from around of the world that share a common purpose: to save the lives and alleviate the suffering of people in danger by delivering medical care where it is needed most. Their members include doctors, health sector workers and other professions that are committed to providing this lifesaving aid. Since 1971, they have been working tirelessly to aid populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of gender, race, religion, creed, or political convictions.

Society was retained by MSF USA to help them search for senior HR leaders that were passionate about the organization’s mission, while also having the leadership and technical skills necessary for the role. We searched for people across the United States and the world and we were able to present a diversity of candidates, including an internal candidate who we placed as their Director of DEI almost a year ago.

Ally James came to MSF USA with a background in operations, marketing and DEI across the private and non-profit sectors. All these experiences combined with her strategic track record at MSF to date led Ally to become the successful candidate for this role. We wish her all the best!

"My experience working with Society felt collaborative and client centric. My perspective about the role, whether as a candidate for Director of DEI (Strategy) or the Director of People and Culture was heard and valued. The discussion, even the initial interview, was open/transparent.

I felt that I was as much of a client as MSF is/was. That is not seen/felt everywhere with similar Executive Search Firms. Thank you Society!”
