The LSE appoint a new Head, Academic Development for the Eden Centre of Education Enhancement
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a world-renowned social science university located in London, United Kingdom. It was founded in 1895 and has since become a leading institution for the study of economics, politics, law, and related disciplines. The university is known for its international character, diverse student body, and rigorous academic standards. It has produced many influential thinkers and policymakers, including numerous heads of state, Nobel Prize winners, and business leaders.
The Eden Centre for Education Enhancement is a part of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is dedicated to supporting the academic development of LSE students.The Centre provides a range of resources and services to help students improve their academic performance, including workshops on study skills, one-to-one tutoring, and academic writing support. The Centre also runs a peer mentoring program where students can receive support and guidance from more experienced peers.
The LSE were seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed and creative leader with a proven track record of academic development work in higher education to join the Eden Centre and head its academic development team. With Society’s support, it has now appointed Dr Alex Standen (SFHEA) as the new Head of Academic Development, Eden Centre. Dr Standen will play an active role in the Eden Centre’s senior management team and take the lead in the strategic planning of the centre’s work on academic staff development and curriculum enrichment. She will also oversee the pedagogic development and delivery of the Eden Centre’s academic staff development programmes, departmental advisory work and curriculum enrichment provision.
Dr Standen joins the LSE from her previous role in the UCL Arena Centre for Research-Based Education as Associate Director (Education & Practice Development) and Associate Professor (Teaching).
