Dementia is arguably the biggest health and social care challenge of our time. An estimated 900,000 people are now living with it in the UK alone, and our existing systems and funding settlements are demonstrably failing to cope. In the face of this growing crisis, Alzheimer’s Society provides a crucial rallying point for optimism about the future.  The commitment to finding individuals with personal connections to the cause, coupled with expertise in finance, audit, or health and social care, highlights the strategic and thoughtful approach.

The appointments of Phil Andrew, Anthony Lobo, and Malte Gerhold to key roles within the organisation, including chairing committees and serving as trustees, are commendable steps toward strengthening Alzheimer's Society's leadership. These individuals bring valuable skills and a genuine passion for making a positive impact in the field of dementia care and research. The collaborative and supportive approach described in the statements reflects a promising foundation for future endeavours in the fight against this cruel disease.

Congratulations to the Alzheimer's Society on these significant appointments, and best wishes to the new trustees as they contribute to the ongoing efforts to address the challenges posed by dementia.

It’s been a pleasure to work with Society throughout the recruitment process (my second with Society!). Their focus on the right fit in terms of personality, values and development, plus being an incredibly kind and supportive team, has been really assuring and refreshing. I felt like they were looking after me as a candidate, not just the recruiting organisation
