MSF USA appoints new Director of Development

Deborah Garcia has been appointed by Doctors Without Borders as their new Director of Development, who will lead the team responsible for fundraising nine figure donations.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières is an organization made up of people from around of the world that share a common purpose: to save the lives and alleviate the suffering of people in danger by delivering medical care where it is needed most. Their members include doctors, health sector workers and other professions that are committed to providing this lifesaving aid. Since 1971, they have been working tirelessly to aid populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of gender, race, religion, creed, or political convictions.

Society was retained by MSF USA to search for a Director of Development. This role will lead the development team that is responsible of fundraising over 600 million dollars in donations and will be responsible for developing a strategy to increase the current fundraising floor.

We searched for candidates in the largest not for profits in the United States with similar fundraising targets. After completing the search process, Deborah Garcia became the successful candidate. Deborah brings both operational and development experience, having been the most recent Managing Director of Development at Planned Parenthood.
