FSD Uganda recruits new Executive Director

Society partnered with FSD Uganda to recruit Jacqueline Muna Musiitwa as Executive Director. She arrives at a critical moment where, following recent regulatory and market changes, Uganda is well-placed to make major strides in combating financial exclusion and improving the lives of the poor by making financial services more accessible and affordable.

FSD Uganda is an independent, not for profit company that supports innovation, conducts research and helps promote and improve policy, laws and regulation that shape and support a more inclusive Ugandan financial sector.

Society conducted an international headhunt and supported FSD Uganda to assess a range of capable leaders with experience of financial inclusion and leading cross-sector collaborations.

Jacqueline is an international lawyer who founded her own law firm, Hoja Law Group, in 2007. She worked on several commercial transactions across Africa and in the US, and on market entry and expansion strategy on behalf of corporate clients. She has also taught private international law as an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Rwanda.

Jacqueline is reputed as an expert in African commercial affairs and innovative problem solving and brings to FSD Uganda broad international relations and public policy experience. She brings an in-depth understanding of how key players in the financial system interact to deliver sustainable solutions.

Jacqueline has a BA degree in Political Science from Davidson College in the US. She studied Law at the Australian National University and at the University of Melbourne Law School. She was a Mo Ibrahim Foundation Leadership fellow at the World Trade Organization, where she worked as an Advisor in the Office of the Director General. She was a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and member of its Advisory Group and also Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellow of the African Leadership Institute. She has served on the boards of several financial institutions across Africa.
