Society makes its 'Inclusive Recruitment Toolkit' free to access

When recruiting, have you grappled with the following questions?

  • How can this role appeal to a more diverse audience?
  • Do we know what we mean by ‘diverse’ within the context of our organisation?
  • Are the professional skills and lived experience around our Board table still relevant and fit for purpose?
  • How can this job be positioned in an accessible way that encourages wider audiences to engage with it and to apply?
  • Does our recruitment process test for capability and potential?
  • Do we know the rules around criminal record disclosure in recruitment?
  • Do we recruit in a way that is accessible for disabled and non-disabled candidates?
  • How do we explore fit and alignment for a job with candidates in a respectful way that safeguards their wellbeing in what can feel like an intense process?

As executive search specialists, we regularly encounter questions like this from our clients. And if we don’t, then we’re sure to put them on the agenda proactively. For when it comes to talent acquisition in support of a diverse workforce and a diverse board, practical action and continual learning make all the difference.

At Society we often observe a gap between good intentions and much needed action. Unprepared for this to remain the norm, and in collaboration with other DEI champions, we have therefore designed an Inclusive Recruitment Toolkit to help organisations make meaningful headway on designing robust, inclusive recruitment processes.

This is not a one-size-fits-all or fixed document. We look forward to adapting it with time, feedback, and global markets in mind. But it is an important call to action in support of open, inclusive recruitment and diverse workforces.
