Lancaster University appoints new Lay Members to Council

Tania Baumann, the current Chief Operating Officer at the World Energy Council, and Professor David Adams, the former Pro-Vice Chancellor, Head of College of Medical and Dental Sciences, and Dean of Medicine at the University of Birmingham, have been appointed as Lancaster University’s new Lay Members of Council.

Tania Baumann is the Chief Operating Officer for the World Energy Council. Tania brings extensive leadership experience across global businesses, not-for-profit, and governmental sectors, with a particular focus on international and purpose-driven organisations. In her current role, Tania navigates a myriad of stakeholders through high-risk and complex environments, whilst fostering the conditions for collaboration and inclusive conversation to co-generate solutions.

Tania commented, "I am delighted to be joining Lancaster University’s Council and am looking forward to contributing my experience across governance, sustainability and international networks alongside my interests in diversity, inclusion and opportunity, to Lancaster University’s important and ambitious agenda. Lancaster has an exciting strategy and I look forward to supporting it."

Professor David Adams is an Emeritus Professor of Hepatology at the University of Birmingham and Director of Birmingham Health Partners. David brings extensive leadership experience, not only in the higher education sector, but also in the NHS, nationally and internationally, as well as an excellent understanding of the national and international research funding landscape.
