Birmingham City University appoints six new members to its Board of Governors and Sub Committees
Birmingham City University (BCU) has a well-deserved reputation as a vibrant and successful higher education institution. The University focuses on practice-led, knowledge-based learning, providing access to cutting-edge facilities and real-world experience
BCU asked Society to support its search for two full members to join its Board of Governors and three co-opted committee members to its Audit Committee, Finance Committee, and Human Resources Committee respectively. The following skills and areas of expertise were identified as particular priorities: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Cybersecurity and Pensions.
After the closing date Society presented a varied field of 22 candidates from a range of sectors including finance, media and not-for-profit. 52% of candidates were from a BAME background, and 33% were from women. Following the interviews, BCU decided to hire an extra co-opted member to the HR Committee, meaning that six appointments in total were made:
- Zubeda Limbada, Director, ConnectFutures;
- Natasha Harris, Human Resources Director, HM Revenue & Customs;
- Hinesh Mehta, Detective Inspector & Cyber Crime Manager, Regional Cyber Crime Unit, West Midlands Police;
- Sukhjeeven Nat, Head of Wholesale and Digital Retail Sector & Diversity Network Chair, Santander;
- Aftab Rahman, Director, Legacy WM;
- Helen Ross, Head of Pensions, XPS Pensions Group.
