Stonewall has appointed Nancy Kelley as its new Chief Executive.
For over thirty years, Stonewall has been working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bi and trans people regardless of their age, ethnicity, faith, gender or background. Stonewall’s Board approached Society to support on these appointments following a period of organizational growth, and during a period of interim leadership. Together, the newly appointed CEO and COO will lead Stonewall’s team in defining and delivering a sustainable future strategy that improves lives across LGBT communities.
In the CEO, we sought an exceptional campaigner, communicator and influencer, with proven leadership creating social change and tackling structural inequalities. The appointment involved a cross-sector, highly bespoke search, and Society explored the opportunity with candidates from wide range of professional backgrounds and lived experiences.Nancy Kelley joins from The National Centre for Social Research, a leading independent social research institute. Previously Nancy worked in a range of policy and strategy roles at social justice organizations including Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Refugee Council and Barnardo’s, as well as a Delivery Manager in the Department for Work and Pensions in the UC digital team.
