Nirmla Devi is joining Warwick Students’ Union as their new Membership Services Director.

Warwick SU is a progressive membership charity of more than 24,000 University of Warwick students from across the UK and overseas.

Warwick sets itself apart from the crowd through its bold strategy, which empowers elected student leaders to make change, improve lives, and fulfil the potential of Warwick students. Responsible for the Advice Centre team, the Student Voice and Representation team, and the Student Activities and Development teams, the Membership Services Director will harness talent across the SU to deliver sector-leading services for Warwick students.

Society conducted a UK-wide search that focussed on those who demonstrated experience of delivering successful people-focused services, as well as a deep commitment to innovative and inclusive leadership, and a passion for first-rate student support and experience.

Before joining Warwick Students’ Union, Nirmla was managing her own consultancy company delivering evaluations in the charity sector. Throughout her career Nirmla has worked at senior management level across economic development, regeneration, housing and health, and has successfully delivered multi-million-pound regeneration programmes. She is passionate about mentoring students and has served as a Visiting Lecturer and Mentor in Higher Education. For her services to communities in Smethwick (Sandwell) she was awarded an MBE.

Of her appointment, Nirmla said:

“I am thrilled to be joining the dynamic team at Warwick SU. I am looking forward to helping them to deliver their Strategic Plan and continue with their mission to “positively impact students’ lives at Warwick and beyond”.

On her experience of working with Society, she added:

“I would like to thank Megan at Society for her support, encouragement and helpful advice throughout the process, which enabled me to have a such a positive recruitment experience”.
