Al Akhawayn University appoints their next Dean of Science and Engineering

Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco (AUI) has appointed Dr Samer Al Kork as their next Dean of Science and Engineering.

AUI is an independent, not-for-profit, English-medium institution of higher education, established by Royal Decree in 1995. Grounded in a US-modelled liberal arts and sciences tradition, the University is recognized for its emphasis on experiential learning, academic excellence, employability, and global citizenship.

Samer is an academic leader, researcher, and engineering educator with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, robotics, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, and academic administration. He has served in senior academic leadership roles, including Department Chair and Director of the Robotics Research Center at the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait.

Samer’s research interests include robotics, human-machine interfaces, biomedical systems, smart prosthetics, EEG-based systems, and social robotics. He has published widely in these areas and has contributed to several international research and educational initiatives. He is passionate about empowering students, supporting faculty excellence, and advancing engineering education through innovation, collaboration, and global engagement.
