The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the foremost social science universities in the world, ranking third globally in the QS subject rankings 2022 and as the top university in London in the Complete University Guide 2023. At the last Research Excellence Framework (REF), LSE is shown as ranking joint second in the UK overall. With 18 Nobel Prize winners and 37 past or present heads of state, the LSE is a truly influential and international university at the forefront of global policy debate. Society assisted the LSE in appointing a new Director of Recruitment and Admissions (DoRA). This is a senior role in the Academic Registrar’s Division (ARD) and the School, with responsibility for student marketing and recruitment, financial support, widening participation, and admissions.

We are pleased to announce that the LSE have appointed Adrian Thomas as its new Director of Recruitment and Admissions. Having responsibility for developing and delivering comprehensive recruitment, widening access and admissions strategies for all levels of study, this is an exciting opportunity to enable the University to achieve its long-term ambitions of attracting talented students from around the globe, with a particular focus on inclusivity, diversification and widening access.

Adrian has over 10 years’ experience of leading marketing and student recruitment teams in both public and private sector organisations, having previously worked for Navitas, Royal Holloway, Lancaster University and the Embassy of Japan. His most recent role as Director of Global Recruitment at Oxford Brookes University saw him driving the University's international strategy and increasing the global visibility of the institution.

We wish him the very best in his new role!
