MBBC is an independent, innovative boys’ school in Brisbane. They are an accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World school with a globally focused curriculum and learning programmes tailored to the individual needs of each student. MBBC were seeking a dynamic, dedicated and passionate individual to support the Head of Secondary. MBBC has a strong philosophy of educating the whole person – body, mind, heart and spirit.  This supporting role will be tailored to the strengths that John possesses in teaching and learning but, more importantly, in pastoral care.

Society was engaged to find dynamic, dedicated and passionate individuals from around globe to support the Head of Secondary with a focus on either Student Wellbeing or Teaching and Learning. We kept our focus open to any specialisation or experience across curricular, wellbeing or sport. We expected the leader to think strategically and be able to deliver plans and goals. We sought those who came across as authentic, with a team player mentality, expressing a desire to provide servant leadership, being humble, smart, passionate and proactive in finding solutions.

John is an educational data specialist with a passion for outstanding educational leadership and for ensuring every student achieves beyond their potential. His central philosophy is to provide data at the fingertips of all people involved in the education of a child so that timely, informed decisions can be made for students to succeed and to give teachers the most time possible to plan and teach the outstanding, differentiated lessons that are rich in experiences. Innovative, adaptive and strategic are his core beliefs and this philosophy, together with wellbeing data, inspires students and teachers into becoming lifelong learners where they take every opportunity to show their successes.

John said: 'Barbara has been steadfast in the support she has offered. Her incisive approach coupled with a firm understanding of what the college was looking for allowed us to explore fully my fit and philosophy around the role. This preparation was essential in allowing me to show my very best self in the interview setting and forge stronger connections with the interview panel. I was delighted with the depth of support I received when preparing for this role.'

I am delighted to be joining the MBBC community and have found the College to have a forward-thinking strategic approach in wanting to deliver a world class education. I look forward to contributing to the education of the boys in our care and belonging to a wonderful, warm and welcoming community in 2024.
