Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group appoints new Vice President of Brand

Andrea Newman joins Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as their Vice President of Brand.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the world leader in luxury hospitality is embarking on its next phase of premium revenue growth through an exciting program of new hotel, resort and property developments, as well as expanding into lifestyle areas for the brand in merchandising/retail, and through strategic investments such as StayOne Degree.

This ambition is dependent on its brand evolving to expand and grow equity as a premium lifestyle luxury and hospitality brand to a broader base of luxury customers.

As a result, Society was tasked in finding a Vice President, Brand to lead Mandarin Oriental’s efforts in setting the long-term vision and roadmap for the brand on how it will win in the global luxury hospitality and lifestyle space, whilst leveraging its heritage and its deep, loyal following amongst some of the world’s most discerning travellers.

Society approached this as a global search. Identifying the guardians of the world’s top brands that have both locally global and globally local brand strategies, targeting individuals who have experience in developing a heritage brand.

Andrea Newman joins Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group from the banking sector, having stewarded the HSBC brand for the past 24 years.

When asked for comment Andrea Newman said:

"I couldn’t be more excited to join the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. It is a brand I have always held in the highest esteem and I’m looking forward to joining the team and continuing the great work that has been done and shaping the brand for its next phase of growth.

Working with the Society team, notably James and George, has been such a uplifting and unique experience. They were always available to answer my questions and guide me through the process and we had a few laughs along the way. This team truly stand out in their category and I hope they know that. I’m going to really miss them!"

We wish Andrea every success in her new role and are excited to see what she does!
