Location:

Deadline:

Lycée International Winston Churchill is a distinctive, ambitious and inclusive co-educational independent day school in Wembley, Northwest London. Established in 2015, the Lycée provides an outstanding French-English education to more than 600 students aged 3–18. Its distinctive educational offer combines a bilingual primary curriculum with a choice at secondary level between the French Baccalauréat and the English International Programme (EIP) leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
Situated within a striking Grade II listed Art Deco building on a leafy five-acre campus, the Lycée is a not-for-profit school with a diverse and international community. Guided by its ethos of “Excellence through care”, it seeks to develop responsible, creative and principled global citizens who are equipped to think critically, act ethically and embrace change.
The Lycée’s founding Head of School, Mireille Rabaté, will retire at the end of July 2027. The Board of Governors has therefore commenced the search for her successor and wish to have the successful candidate starting no later than 1st August 2027. The next Head of School will have the opportunity to build on strong foundations and shape an ambitious and sustainable next chapter, protecting the quality and rigour of the school’s educational provision while developing it for the future.
Important priorities will include strengthening pupil recruitment and retention; championing the Lycée’s distinctive French, British and international identity; ensuring the careful stewardship of resources; and exploring strategic partnerships with potentially transformative value. The successful candidate should be a compelling ambassador for the school, able to strengthen its profile among prospective families, partners, and the wider community.
Candidates must possess recent successful experience in a senior school leadership role, together with a recognised teaching qualification or equivalent professional status. Genuine personal bilingualism – communicating fluently and confidently in both French and English – is essential, as is a strong understanding of the French education system and the ability to operate effectively across French, British and international educational contexts.
We are seeking an inspirational and strategically minded educational leader who combines educational credibility with sound management and financial acumen. They will bring the energy, optimism, resilience and personal presence to engage the whole school community, empower colleagues, and lead the Lycée confidently through its next phase of development.
