Monash University invites applications for the Head of Design within the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (MADA).

Monash is a modern, international, and research-intensive university, making a positive impact on today’s global challenges – whether that is by mitigating climate change, easing geopolitical insecurity, or fostering healthy communities. Monash has grown into the largest Australian university: a network of campuses, education centres and partnerships spanning the globe. Our vibrant and diverse community consists of 86,000 students, 17,000 staff, and more than 490,000 alumni. At Monash, work feels different. There is a sense of belonging, from contributing to something groundbreaking. We are a place where great things happen.

As part of one of the world’s leading comprehensive, research-intensive universities, MADA offers exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and impact. Our researchers work across Monash and with partners internationally, contributing to major initiatives in health, mobility, climate adaptation, emerging technologies, gender-sensitive design, and urban transformation. As one of MADA’s Heads of Department, you will join an ambitious and collegial leadership team, supported by outstanding facilities, services, and systems

This role will provide enthusiastic, engaged and visible leadership of the Department of Design; fostering excellence in research, education and engagement, both within the University as well as with the wider community of industry and practice. The successful candidate will bring a global perspective, as well as the energy and ambition to position the Department at the forefront of emerging technologies, and new modes of practice.

Monash University welcomes and values diversity. The University encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.
