EDT announces their new Chief Executive

Following a search by Society, the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) has appointed Julie Feest as their new Chief Executive.

EDT is an independent charity and the largest provider of UK STEM activities for young people aged 10-21. EDT’s learning programmes link educators and industry and give young engineers and scientists opportunities to enhance their technical, personal and employability skills across science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Society worked closely with EDT’s Board and Nominations Committee to design a focused, inclusive approach to this critical hire and delivered a varied field of inspirational leaders from the STEM, wider not-for-profit, and private sectors.

Julie joins from Tech Partnership, formerly e-skills UK, where she was Head of Strategic Partnerships and Customer Director. She combines a decade of experience within the not-for-profit sector with an earlier career in sales and business development in industry for the likes of Digital, Compaq and Hewlett Packard.

Julie said of her appointment: "I am really excited to be joining EDT and am honoured to accept the post of Chief Executive Officer - I have been so impressed by the quality of the work of this educational charity and the team creating fantastic opportunities in STEM for young people. I look forward to working with the board, staff and partners to ensure EDT continues to thrive, growing the home-grown talent pipeline for these critical skills, at such an important time for the UK.”

EDT Chair Nick Buckland commented on Society’s partnership. “Society were a delight to work with, they did exactly what they said they would do, working with us throughout the process, advising and guiding as and when necessary. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tanya and her team. For us it was a first class service with an excellent result.”
