Harnessing AI and Tech
Our industry is being fundamentally reshaped by AI and other emerging technologies. Judgement, relationships, discretion and trust remain at the heart of what we do. But the way in which those human skills are applied urgently needs to be reimagined.
At Society, we are using advances in cloud computing, data analytics and artificial intelligence to increase the speed, accuracy, and transparency of the service we provide to clients, whilst also reducing bias, improving consistency, and enhancing the protection of candidate confidentiality.
We have made a deliberate and sustained investment in technology that enhances, rather than replaces, human judgement. Our best-in-class tools ensure that Society's clients benefit from deeper insight and better decision making. The result is a search process that is more rigorous, more inclusive, and more effective.

But, for all the possibilities unlocked by these tools, we will only ever use them to augment rather than to replace our existing capabilities. We look on these technologies as 'digital interns' or 'co-pilots', so will always resist putting them in a position of control. That means strict limitations on their use. For example:
- We continue to double-check everything. AI is far from infallible. Although the accuracy of these tools will no doubt improve over time, we ensure that we still verify whatever AI tells us or produces for us.
- We don’t let AI communicate directly with clients or candidates. With the occasional exception of scheduling meetings, contact from Society will always be from a real person. The authentic human touch permeates all our interactions.
- We never let AI make decisions about which candidates get progressed and which do not. For volume recruiters, some level of AI involvement in sifting and/or selection might become the norm. But at the level of seniority at which Society works, it is unjustifiable.
- We will never input confidential or personal data into a public AI tool. Our commitment to candidate confidentiality and data privacy remains sacrosanct.

We continually review these tools and the integrations to ensure our approach is streamlined and not scattergun, and each new tool is fully researched before being integrated into our systems.
