Astrea Academy Trust is a multi-academy trust with schools based in Doncaster, the wider South Yorkshire region and Cambridgeshire. Valuing all-round development of the individual through arts, sports, leadership opportunities, enrichment and community, Astrea is committed to inspiring beyond measure so that all children in the Trust have accelerated opportunities that set them up to learn, thrive, and lead successful lives. It has an ambition to tackle historical educational disadvantage and to play its part in the social regeneration of areas that have experienced poor education opportunities. 

The Trust has grown rapidly since its creation and now educates around 14,000 students in 26 academies. In Cambridgeshire, the Trust comprises four secondary schools and one school with specialist provision. In South Yorkshire, the Trust works through eighteen primary academies, one all-through school, and three secondary schools.

The Trust’s Executive Team is led by Rowena Hackwood as Chief Executive Officer. A wider central team supports the work of individual academies in core areas such as academic support, inclusion, governance, finance, HR, estates, and IT. With a 2025 strategy in place, Astrea is increasingly clear and specific about its vision for behaviour, curriculum and teaching quality.

As the Trust moves into its 2025 strategy development plan, Astrea is looking for multiple Trustees to strengthen, diversify, and advance the actions of the Board, with interviews commencing throughout July and successful appointees starting in late Summer.

Astrea's Trustee appointments are ideal for existing non-executive directors, or those looking to enter into the NED space with interests in education or knowledge of HR, auditing, fundraising and PR and vocational or technical career experience. A connection to Doncaster is considered desirable, and likewise connections to South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire are advantageous. Above all, Astrea seeks people who are truly motivated and committed to the mission of improving the lives of children in Cambridgeshire and South Yorkshire.
