The Afican Leadership Academy (ALA) is seeking to appoint a Dean of the Academy to lead their thriving, inspirational and world-renowned Academy through its next phase of development.
ALA seeks to transform Africa by identifying, developing, and connecting a new generation of leaders. The Academy was founded on the belief that a new generation of ethical, committed leaders is the key to Africa’s development. Each year, ALA draws the most outstanding students from across Africa to its campus in South Africa.
Their learning community serves 260 young leaders, aged 16-19, who spend 2 years at the Academy engaging with the knowledge, skills, habits, and culture that will accelerate their trajectories of ethical and effective leadership. ALA’s selective admissions process and uniquely generous financial assistance program combine to create an exceptionally talented and energetic student community.
The Dean is the Academy’s “Head of School” and works each day to define and deliver a world-class boarding school program that prepares each student to become a transformative leader committed to creating a more prosperous and equitable future for the African continent, and the world. As a member of ALA’s Executive Committee, the Dean also works alongside the CEO and other executives to shape the strategy of this unique institution.
The post holder will play a part in all aspects of life in this busy community, leading by example as regards commitment to the Academy’s aims and values, striving to enhance outcomes and supporting staff through maintaining standards of excellence in all that they do.
