Anne Danks joins Christian Aid as new Head of Region, Westside

Christian Aid has appointed Anne Danks as its new Head of Region, Westside.

Founded in 1941, Christian Aid is a leading UK and Irish relief and development agency working in some of the world’s poorest communities in more than 50 countries. Christian Aid acts where the need is greatest, regardless of race or religion, believing that poverty is an outrage against humanity, robbing people of dignity, freedom and hope.

The Head of Region, Westside is a critical role for the organisation. This role will lead the regional team in engaging with churches, activists, supporters of all ages, volunteer networks, and the private sector in the region. Christian Aid’s partnership with its supporters is essential. The acts of supporters in giving, praying and taking action are at the heart of the work they do.

Society conducted a UK-wide search, with a focus on people working in strategic partnerships and fundraising with churches, communities and volunteer groups. Anne stood out to Society and Christian Aid due to her experience gained from The Trussell Trust over the past seven years, currently as Operations Manager, England. In this role, she oversees support and additional services of over 320 church-based foodbank charities in the UK.

On her appointment, Anne said: “I am delighted to be working with Christian Aid as it works to expose the scandal of poverty internationally, and to be able to use my Master's in Justice, Advocacy and Reconciliation to view issues of gender justice, climate justice and economic justice both through theological and deeply practical perspectives”.

And on her experience of working with Society: “It was a pleasure to work with Megan Fisher in deciding whether this role would be a good fit for me. Megan was always happy to answer my questions intelligently and thoughtfully without putting any pressure on me to make a decision before I was ready to do so”.
