Senior international retailer joins B&Q after extensive Society search

Society were delighted to work with B&Q on the appointment of Lennert Kuijper, who has joined them this week as their Category Director for Building Interiors. Lennert's expertise will add value to key B&Q product lines including electrical, heating and cooling, hardware, power tools and hand tools.

B&Q is the largest home improvement and garden centre retailer in the UK and Europe and the third largest in the world. They are part of Kingfisher plc who are Europe's leading home improvement retail group, and a prominent member of the responsible business grouping 'Business in the Community'. 

Lennert has relocated from Holland, where he was Head of Buying, Technical and Building, for Praxis part of the Maxeda DIY Group. Prior to Praxis, Lennert worked for Department Store Hema as a Category Unit Manager and for Supermarket Super de Boer as a Senior Category Manager. He will bring a valuable international perspective to the team.

In the past two years, B&Q have undergone significant change. Their CEO, Martyn Phillips, has created a completely new manifesto for the business. B&Q's core goal is "Better Homes, Better Lives", and Lennert is delighted to be helping them deliver this.
