NLCS Jeju appoints innovative new Head of Admissions

Throughout November 2016, Society ran a proactive search to assist North London Collegiate School, Jeju in finding a Head of Admissions. Dylan Yeom was appointed in December and will join NLCS Jeju to lead their admissions team in February 2017.

North London Collegiate School, Jeju is the highly successful and selective franchise school of North London Collegiate School. Based on the south Korean island of Jeju, they have been open since 2011. NLCS Jeju has a majority Korean student population and were looking for a Head of Admissions who could tailor the admissions experience to compassionately cater to the needs and concerns of prospective Korean parents and pupils who may be unused to the British education system. The ideal candidate would have to have in-depth firsthand experience of Korean culture, fluency in the Korean language and be able to network effectively to actively promote the school.

To provide NLCS Jeju with a diverse field, without compromising on the very specific role requirements, we split the search into two main areas; education and the commercial sector. Within education we looked for individuals working within student service roles, as educational agents, admissions professionals or college counsellors who might have the language skills and cultural understanding NLCS Jeju required. In the commercial sector we approached professionals working in outward facing roles such as sales, MICE and recruitment, with fluency in Korean and a deep understanding, and experience, of Korean culture.

Dylan joins NLCS Jeju from Spring Professional Asia where she was a Senior Consultant handling the growth of a portfolio of client accounts for specialised appointments in the Bio and Life Sciences field. Having grown up in Seoul she began her career providing translation services and business conversation skills in English for Pangaea Investment Firm. She then worked in a number of customer service operations, client liaison and events management capacities for global healthcare organisations such as Covidien and Medtronic APAC before taking on her role at Spring Professional Asia.

Dylan’s career putting personal experience at the heart of operational processes, and her flair for engaging people in a variety of organisational contexts, make her an exciting appointment for NLCS Jeju as they strive to ingrain the highest level of support and empathy for prospective pupils and parents into their admissions processes.

Speaking about her appointment, Dylan commented:

"I am thrilled to be taking this role as the new Head of Admissions for NLCS Jeju (North London Collegiate School). The School is well-known for its tradition of producing independent and talented young individuals through their British-style education. I look forward to the cross-functional synergies together with NLCS Jeju’s education experts, great contents and my international business experience over the years.

Working with Shehrazade from Society has been a true delight. Despite the time difference and physical distance between London and Seoul, I was absolutely comfortable. The whole experience has been greatly positive because of her support and I enormously appreciate her professionalism as well as her friendly attitude."
