Minor Hotels hires new Cluster Director of Finance in Maldives

Mark Ferguson has been appointed the new Cluster Finance Director for Minor Hotels based in the Maldives. His career experience spans all segments and aspects of the international hospitality industry at senior leadership level, specializing in resort operations, most recently as a Senior Leader, an executive position at the world renowned, ultra-luxury Amanyara, an Aman Resort in Turks and Caicos.

Minor Hotels in Maldives is a premier region of their top-tier 5-star luxury resort offering. Minor engaged with Society as they were looking for a dynamic, hands on and strategic Finance Director for this cluster to maintain performance and optimise newer sites as they grow.

We began our search for Cluster, Complex or Multi-Property Finance Directors who had experience of working on an island or in a remote setting: having an appreciation of not only the logistical and social challenges in what can at times be an isolating environment. The incumbent needed to be an outgoing and dynamic leader to be able to contribute to the positive and collaborative working culture necessary for island life. Our strategy consisted of headhunting talent from top-tier international luxury and boutiques hotel groups globally, focusing on their island locations and other extreme remote settings, like safari operations and luxury retreats.

Mark is a seasoned and passionate hospitality professional, driven to achieve, focused on exceeding goals, targets, and expectations. He offers significant experience in operational management, building and developing teams, sales and revenue management, renovation planning and delivery. Having spent the past ten years working in international senior roles, Mark is well versed in cultural sensitivities, and navigating local and political challenges that exist within a resort’s operation.

Mark had this to say about his experience: "My entire experience with the society team was nothing but positive and professional. They had a complete picture of the role and the company which gave me a huge amount of confidence in the entire process. With continuous communication as we went along this made the start to finish seamless. they were a pleasure to work with".

We wish Mark well in this next step in his career.
