Kingston University hires Dr Heba Elsharkawy to lead the Department of Architecture and Landscape at Kingston School of Art

Dr Heba Elsharkawy, joins the Kingston School of Art, at Kingston University as Head of Department of Architecture and Landscape.

Kingston School of Art (KSA) was established in the late 19th Century, and only merged with Kingston Polytechnic (now Kingston University London) in 1970. KSA has established an exceptional reputation and emerged as one of the UK’s leading art and design educational institutions. This is reflected by the influence of its globally distributed and celebrated alumni, its subject rankings, research performance, and industry and student awards, and by the leading brands and institutions that choose to work with it.

Heba is a trained architect, and holds a BSc in Architecture, MSc in Architectural Studies and a PhD in Environmental Design (University of Nottingham, UK). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, having achieved a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (PgCUTL) qualification at Cardiff University, and has been developing a thorough understanding of contemporary approaches to pedagogy in architecture over 20 years of experience in higher education. Heba has been a Reader in Architecture and Cluster Leader for Architecture and Design at the University of East London, prior to which she worked at Cardiff University’s Welsh School of Architecture and the University of Nottingham. Heba, has an extensive international research profile and is a RIBA Associate, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
