Higher Education

Higher Education

Higher Education is an arena of transformation, be it in the form of students unlocking their potential, researchers pushing forward the boundaries of human knowledge, or enterprise activities that act as a vital catalyst to economic prosperity. Staggeringly complex, and yet each unique, higher education institutions are pioneers, curators, and engines of growth, change and progress.

Competition for talent in the Higher Education sector is now genuinely global and increasingly fierce. We work with both public and private universities and colleges, across the globe, supporting them across all academic and administrative activity. This ranges from Provost, Director and Dean appointments, through to working at departmental level to support the appointment of faculty in niche, hard-to-fill areas. We appreciate that academic appointments are qualitatively different, and so we take a flexible and bespoke approach to these which has been proven to get exceptional results. Our track record of academic appointments covers a diverse range of disciplines, from the Economics of the Built Environment through to Neurorehabilition, and from Forensic Computing through to Gender Studies. We are proud of this breadth and celebrate it as an essential part of our values, and who we are both as a team and as an organisation.

Society handled the appointment of Dr Kofi Marfo as Director of the Institute for Human Development at the Aga Khan University.

Dr Marfo holds a BEd (Hons) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and an MEd and PhD from the University of Alberta, Canada. He joined the Aga Khan University from the University of South Florida in Tampa USA, where he was a Professor of Educational Psychology and Director of the Doctoral Program in Special Education.

The Aga Khan University Institute for Human Development brings together researchers, teachers, practitioners and students from across the University and the entire Aga Khan Development Network, linking with partners in other parts of the world. Their collective focus on early child development represents both a unifying theme at the heart of the institution and the network, and one of the areas most critical to the future of the communities the University serves. Dr Marfo says that he wants the Institue to become "a major instrumental agent, locally as well as globally, for advancing knowledge about the earliest years of children's development and harnessing such knowledge for the purposes of shaping policies and interventions that ensure a strong start in life for all children wherever they may live."

Carol Ariano, the University's Vice-President for Human Resources commented:

"Society were particularly enthusiastic in their efforts to identify candidates for our Institute for Human Development. The quality of candidates identified was superb, spanning various related disciplines, and including academics from three continents. In the final selection, our search committee was challenged to shortlist, and then to choose - a wonderful challenge to face, given the location of the position was either Karachi or Nairobi. We are thrilled with the final outcome engaging Kofi Marfo. We are consistently pleased with the calibre and diversity of the candidates that Society identifies for us, and especially appreciate their innovative search model. They may be successful in transforming the industry in time, especially for non-traditional clients."
